The new program year at St. John’s is arriving now! See below for all the events.

Tuesday, September 2: Handbell Choir rehearsals resume.

Saturday, September 6: Children’s and Youth Choirs Mini Retreat, 9:30am-noon at St. John’s.

Sunday, September 7:  Rehearsals begin for Children’s Choir from 9:00-9:45 am.

Sunday, September 7: “Blessing of the Backpacks” —  There will be a blessing of anyone beginning a new school year and their backpacks and school supplies during the 10:00 am service.

Wednesday, September 10: Rehearsals begin again for Adult Choir and Youth Choir. Senior Youth and Rite 13 programs resume.

Wednesday, September 10: Bible Study returns at 11:00 am.

Thursday, September 11: Join us for the candlelit Sung Compline service  at 7:00 pm in the Choir Stalls. Incense is used during the service.

Saturday, September 13: The Book Club returns to discuss Benediction by Kent Haruf at 9:30 am in the Fireside Room.

Sunday, September 14: “Gathering Sunday” — a day full of celebration and the return of fun events for the whole parish. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your church family and introduce friends and neighbors to the community that is St. John’s.
Ministry Fair – Learn what each ministry at St. John’s is doing throughout the program year. Please stop by one of the tables or booths set up in the gymnasium during the Gathering Sunday activities.
Parish Potluck – Following 10am worship service, please join us in the gymnasium for the annual Potluck. If your last name begins with A-L please bring a side-dish, M-Z please bring a dessert.
Face Painting and Games – Provided by our Children, Youth and Family Ministry. If you would like to assist, please contact Jean Hansen at rjhansen3128@aim.com.
Music – St. John’s Adult Choir returns from their Summer hiatus to lead us in inspiring worship.

Friday-Sunday, September 19-21: Adult Choir Retreat at Dunrovin (offsite).

Sunday, September 21: “Peace Sunday” – on this, the International Day of Peace,  we acknowledge the violent and upsetting events in the world recently and find a way to do something in response through prayer. The 10:00 am Eucharist will begin with a candlelight vigil and end with a Blessing of the Peace Pole.

Sunday, September 21: Sunday Forum begins with new topics and speakers for the year.

Sunday, September 21: Open House for Godly Play families.

Wednesday, September 24: OWLs (Older, Wiser Laity) Luncheon with Noonday Prayers at Noon followed by fellowship and food in the Fireside Room with a program provided by St. John’s clergy and staff.

Sunday, September 28: Godly Play returns for the program year at 9:45 am.
