The new year has not yet begun and we have exciting news for 2019!
Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church received a matching gift in the amount of $6000 to extend our ability to minister and pursue God’s mission in 2019, as we did in 2018!
In 2018, through our preaching, faith formation, programs and outreach we tackled and addressed some of the most challenging issues facing our world — poverty, racism, gender equality and the #metoo movement, refugees at our border, gun violence, and so much more. Together, as a community, we found our work both in prayer and action, challenging and being challenged to live our baptismal covenant and the gospel call to reconcile ourselves to one another and God. Our work is not reactive but rooted in a deep spirituality that informs our practice.
This matching gift is an invitation to our whole congregation. Please join me and my family in making an end of year gift. This is an opportunity for your giving to go even further, joining others in the work of repairing the world through God’s mission of reconciliation.
All gifts, regardless of size, will be used to meet this challenge gift and help us deepen the mission and ministry of our faith community. Your gift will make an impact in:
- world-changing outreach,
- moving liturgy,
- powerful preaching,
- thought-provoking faith formation for all ages,
- beautiful music,
- deeply caring pastoral connections,
- and provide diverse opportunities to grow, serve, connect, and practice your faith!
You can give online (click here), via text (651-273-0753), with a check to St. John’s (write 2019 Special Gift in memo line), or bring cash to church by January 6 (in an envelope marked 2019 Special Gift).
I am full of hope for 2019 and grateful for our work together. Thank you for all your support in the year past and in anticipation of all your generosity in the year to come.
