Eucharist and Reception for St. Aelred
January 12 at 4pm in the Church
In honor of the Feast of Saint Aelred of Rievaulx, patron saint of LGBTQ+ Episcopalians, St. John’s invites all to this Celebration of Holy Eucharist which will feature hymns and service music composed by the LGBTQ+ community. The Rev. Mike Angell will be our Guest Preacher. A festive reception will follow the service in the Fireside.

Children, Youth, and Family Ministry and Faith Formation invite the whole parish to participate in making candles together which will be blessed at The Feast of Candlemas Eucharist at 10am.



Kirk Michael Rich, Organ Recital
Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 4:00pm 
Dr. Kirk Michael Rich, Director of Music for All Saints Episcopal Church, Atlanta, performs a program on the historic four manual E.M. Skinner / Shantz pipe organ in the sanctuary. He holds degrees in organ performance from the Oberlin College Conservatory, the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and a doctorate from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. A reception will follow this event.

Choral Masterclass and Workshop with Dr. Jong-Won Park
Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 9:00am-12:00pm
Dr. Johng-Won Park, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, gives a masterclass on Bob Chilcott’s St. John Passion to the adult choir and a lecture on choral and vocal technique. This event will be held in the sanctuary and is open to the public.

Sung Compline
Thursdays at 7pm in the Chancel
Led by The St. John’s Compline Choir, The Mirandola Ensemble and Lumina. Incense is used.



Discover St. John’s
Discover St. John’s on Sunday, February 9 at 11:30am in the Fireside Room. Open to all seekers and newcomers. If that’s you, welcome! If that’s someone you know, invite them to come! Our rector Jered Weber-Johnson will provide a brief overview of our faith community and what we’re about, answer questions, and end with a tour of the church building. Children are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

Project Home
For the month of February
Once again we will open our gym and provide families experiencing homelessness with a place to sleep, some snacks, and hosts with compassion for their present situation. Signups for volunteer slots will be available online and at coffee hour.

We will be packing gift bags for Project Home families staying with us during the month of February. All members of your family are welcome!

Annual Meeting
January 26 at 11:15 in the Gym
Hear the stories of all the wonderful work being done at St. John’s. The church will provide lunch; please bring a dessert to share. Childcare provided for kids birth through fifth grade. Please RSVP to Katie Madsen at katie.madsen@stjohnsstpaul.org if you plan to utilize nursery care.

OWLs and Noonday Prayer
February 4 at Episcopal Homes
Noonday prayer will be held in the Coventry Chapel of Episcopal Homes at 12pm. Afterwards, we invite everyone who identifies as Older, Wiser, Laity to a luncheon. The Rev. Jered Weber-Johnson and the Rev. Barbara Mraz will present “Fondues and Fon-don’t’s: Food Trends and Fads of the Past 100 Years.”

Episcopal Homes is located at 1860 University Avenue West, St. Paul. There are 60 parking spaces at Episcopal Homes, but as always, it is good to carpool if you can.

Faithful Families Winter Event
