The Spring 2020 series of Basics classes start online this Sunday. Over five weekly Zoom sessions (every Sunday from 7-8pm, April 19 through May 17), the course will cover the foundations of the Christian faith, the beliefs and practices distinctive to the Episcopal Church’s Anglican tradition, and what that all means for our life at Saint John’s.
These classes aren’t just for newcomers to Saint John’s or the Episcopal faith! They’re strongly recommended for anyone preparing for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, or Matrimony, and they are a useful opportunity for longtime parishioners to refresh their understanding of our tradition.

All five of the Spring 2020 Basics sessions are open to everyone at Saint John’s. Any Saint John’s member may attend one or all five sessions. The weekly topics include:
- Session One: The Episcopal Identity
- Session Two: Episcopal Authority
- Session Three: Spirituality and the Episcopalians
- Session Four: The Episcopal Temperament
- Session Five: Episcopal Polity and Wrap-Up
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining Basics Classes via Zoom.
In the end, all we do as Christians, Anglicans, Episcopalians, and members of Saint John’s is geared toward helping us be better disciples and followers of Jesus, and to equip us to serve God’s mission in the world.
