This has been a difficult year for many in our world, our community, and our church. But we are still together. At St. John’s we try to use our combined financial and physical resources in ways that reflect God’s commandments to love our neighbor and live not in fear, but abundance.
In that spirit of abundance, very generous donors have offered a matching gift for this year’s pledge campaign. These long-time members will match any increases or new pledges up to $1,000 each, so your impact can be twice as great in 2021!
The donors wish to remain anonymous because this is not about individual gifts, but about the work of the Holy Spirit in our parish. That spirit calls us to proclaim the good news of Jesus, to study scripture and learn about God’s Way of Love, to welcome all people into this community of faith, and to live out our faith in service to others. It was this call that led the donors to offer matching gifts, and, as they shared with our Rector, the Reverend Jered Weber-Johnson, they believe “Generosity defines St. John’s” and so, they “want to do [their] part”.
In this same spirit of abundance, we invite you to consider increasing your pledge for 2021. Increases up to $1,000 will be matched dollar-for-dollar to help our fellow members who have been adversely financially affected by the pandemic and allow our programming and outreach to continue unaffected. Please know each contribution, no matter the size, is a significant gift, received with gratitude, and used faithfully to further the mission and ministry of St. John’s.
In 2021, we commit to using our resources to:
- Minister to the people among us who are suffering (Pastoral Care and Direct Aid).
- Meet the needs of those outside our parish (Faith in Action).
- Address racism in ourselves, our church, and our nation (Classes and Sermons)
- Offer hope and encouragement (Small Groups, Music Enrichment, and improved Worship Media)
- Protect, as far as possible, the people who depend on St. John’s for their livelihood (Payroll).
