The Reverend Kate Bradtmiller was called to St. John’s to be the Associate Rector in the fall of 2013. In her role at St. John’s, Kate is responsible for developing Pastoral Care Teams (and pastoral tracking), liasing with the Faith in Action ministries, and overseeing the new member ministry and spiritual and community life groups. She also preaches regularly, teaches, celebrates the Eucharist and presides at other worship along with our rector, and provides regular pastoral care.
Before moving to Minnesota in August of 2009, Kate was the associate rector at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth. Once she and her wife, Louisa (an assistant professor of Environmental Studies at Macalester College), settled in Minneapolis, Kate served as a chaplain at Fairview Southdale Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Center.
Kate was born and raised in Bethany, Connecticut. She received her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College, just outside Boston, where she focused on Women’s Studies and Religion, and went on to earn her Master of Divinity at Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. These days, in addition to working, Kate and Louisa are the proud parents of twins Ruth and Paul. Their children were born in September 2013 and baptized at St. John’s in January 2014.
