» Children

We have expanded our children’s ministry for ages 5-grade 6. Godly Play and an expanded program of formation and music will be offered at every Sunday of the month! We’ll all meet in the Gathering Space at 9am and children will join their families in church at 10:45am.

Faith formation is an on-going, lifelong process. From womb to tomb we are called into a deeper relationship with our God who first loved us.  It is through faithful connections that your children will come to know and experience God’s love by connecting with each other, and exploring different ways to pray and practice their faith. Children’s Faith Connections (CFC) will:

  • Promote spiritual development by helping children internalize prayers and stories from the Bible.
  • Promote family faith and spiritual life.
  • Help children realize God’s love for them and the blessings in the lives.

Godly Play is a Montessori-based approach to religious education, using a multi-sensory approach to telling Bible stories with three-dimensional materials.

Sunday Schedule:

• Building Faith Brick by Brick: includes Legos to interpret the stories of our faith
• Praying in Color
• Kinnecting with God: explores ways to use our bodies in prayer

9:20    God’s Children Make Music: movement, rhythm, story, liturgical and music education—all of which orient us toward God.

9:50    Contemplative Prayer: 1st–6th grade children will practice contemplative prayer. PreK/K children will go directly to Godly Play.

10:00   Godly Play: All children will participate in Godly Play, then join their families during worship in time for Eucharist.

Nursery Care

The nursery is located in the Undercroft (lower level of the church).  On Sundays, the nursery is staffed from 8:45 am to the end of the 10:00 am service (September -May) and 9:45 am through the end of the 10:00 am service (June – August). Children from birth to age 4 are lovingly cared for so that parents may attend church programs and services.

If you have questions, contact Tracy Johnson, nursery coordinator, at nursery@stjohnsstpaul.org.
