St. John’s clergy recommend the following resources to help you:

d365: A daily devotional site with inspirational and relevant reflections on scripture for young people. The devotional experience is written especially for students and seeks to provide reflections on themes that impact our faith journey.

At the Edge of Enclosure: with sermon preparation, Bible Study, personal reflection, it offers a weekly self-guided retreat on the Gospel lesson for the coming Sunday.

Living Space: Commentaries on the daily readings.

Weekly Seeds: a weekly email summary of the United Church of Christ’s popular resource for lectionary-based Bible study. It includes next Sunday’s Bible reading, a brief meditation, and reflections from ancient or contemporary sources.

Working Preacher: a source of inspiration and interpretation for sermons, with artwork, Bible readings and commentaries, articles, podcasts, and videos.

(Weekly Seeds and Working Preacher are created specifically for preachers, but the materials are so relevant to a layperson engaged in basic scripture study – they’re accessible and useful for anyone).
