All women of the pairsh a
re members of the Women of St. John’s. We meet for service, learning, fellowship, and fun.
All financial support comes from two Huge Sales, the Silent Auction, and donations from members. This money goes for support of church projects and outreach. Church support includes the rector’s discretionary fund and the scholarship fund, the Episcopal Church Home, Episcopal Community Services, the University Episcopal Center, the Diocesan Indian Christmas Fund, and the Episcopal Relief and Development. Our special project over the years has been the upkeep of the Fireside Room and the Fireside Room kitchen.
We sponsor the United Thank Offering. We serve at funeral receptions. We have an annual Christmas party/luncheon in December and a luncheon and program meeting in February. Our Silent Auction/Luncheon is held in April.
Through the two Huge Sales and Bag Sales (the first Saturday and Monday in May and October) and the help of men, women, and youth we not only have a chance to get to know each other, but we also have outreach to the neighborhood and all who attend. We collect rummage year-around. We need MANY workers for presorting and working at both sales and for packing up afterward. We welcome all members to our activities.
The Men’s Breakfast Group meets for breakfast on the second Saturday of each month to enjoy fellowship and build up the Body of Christ. Several of us prepare breakfast for all. We sing the Doxology, enjoy conversation over the meal, and usually have a brief presentation by one or more members. Meetings last 60-90 minutes.
We also occasionally sponsor service projects for St. John’s including cleaning the high spots in the sanctuary and hosting a dinner to generate support for our seminarians.
We heartily welcome all men, college age and older, with an interest in St. John’s to join us.
