Listen to a selection, Praise the Lord, 9/19/2010
The Adult Choir sings for the 10 am service on Sundays from September through June. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:15 to 9:15 pm in the music room and on Sundays from 9:00 to 9:45 am in the choir stalls.
No auditions are required, and high-schoolers and adults are welcome to participate. Experience singing in choirs is helpful, and the ability to read music is a real plus! We have about 36 singers in four well-balanced sections. The choir includes four professional section leaders and four choral scholars who are voice students in local colleges.
The Adult Choir sings high-quality choral literature in a variety of musical styles and from a wide range of musical periods, from Renaissance motets to Spirituals.
In addition to Sunday services, the choir sings at three Festival Evensongs each year, plus Lessons and Carols in December. These Festival Services are accompanied by organ or instrumental ensembles, including orchestra. The choir also visits Episcopal Homes once or twice a year, for a Hymn Sing or for Evensong.
St. John’s welcomes new compositions by resident composers.

The Handbell Choir consists of volunteer bell ringers from the membership and friends of St. John’s. The bell choir rehearses weekly on Tuesdays from 5:45 to 7:15 pm from September through May each year.
Generally, the Handbell Choir provides music as part of the regular 10:00 a.m. church service on the second Sunday of the month. This can include music for the prelude or postlude and special hymn accompaniments.
The mission of the Handbell Choir is to offer praise and express our faith through music and fellowship as participants in public worship at St. John’s.
The Handbell Choir is directed by Kate Graber. Kate is a former member of the Twin Cities-based community handbell ensemble, Bells of the Lakes. She subs at various churches and is part of Toll Free, a quartet of ringers.
All are welcome to consider becoming part of the Handbell Choir. Enjoyment of music and a commitment to being part of the group are the most important criteria.
For more information, contact Music Director Jim Frazier or any member of the Handbell Choir. To join, please contact Kate Graber at 952-890-3616 or kate.graber@yahoo.com.
