Dear Friends in Christ,

Advent is right around the corner and with it a whole catalogue of opportunities to join in the fun, fellowship, and faith formation at St. John’s. Check out the following for a list of what’s coming up, or go to our online calendar for even more dates and events.

See you in church.

St. John’s Facebook page continues to grow. Check it out by clicking here and “like” us on Facebook. You don’t want to miss the appropriate to the season, video of Stephen Colbert singing and dancing to “King of Glory”.

Also, if you’ve not yet made a pledge to St. John’s you can do so now, the campaign is over but we are still in need of more pledges to meet our goal for 2012. Please check your bulletin Sunday for current numbers on where we are on pledged dollars.

Advent Retreat: It’s About Time

Friday December 2nd and Saturday December 3rd, come for an advent retreat led by the Reverend David Bergdorf formerly of the Betty Ford Center. Ever found the holidays to be stressful, over-busy, disconnected, and even sad, come one day or both and discover how you can reorient your life this season toward sanity, inspiration, and focus. Please sign up with the parish office or by contacting the Reverend Barbara Mraz at [email protected]

Annual Christmas Party

December 10th at 5:45, join us at St. John’s for our annual festive Christmas Party. Childcare is provided for the whole evening. Drinks and snacks served first with dinner and carols following. See you there.

Adult Ed. – Rooted in the Creeds

Join us this week in the undercroft following the 8AM service for a conversation with the Reverend Barbara Mraz as we explore these historic documents and how they inform and undergird our faith and our tradition.

Support Kayoro Village

Christmas cards are available through the parish office or following Sunday AM services in the undercroft. This year’s cards feature a lovely photo of the doors of St. John’s covered in winter snow. The photo is by local artist E.S. Paper and all proceeds go to benefit our parish relationship with the clinic and people in Kayoro Village, Uganda.

Journey to Bethlehem

Has your child ever brought home Flat Stanley? This Advent St. John’s will be providing a similar activity for our families with young children. Advent is the time we await the coming of Jesus. Take time this Advent to ponder with Mary and Joseph, and your family the coming of Jesus. Help Mary and Joseph as they travel the long distance to Bethlehem. Welcome them into your home for a few nights of rest. Share in their joy of the birth of Jesus – God in our lives. See Jean Hansen for more details.

Youth Ministry Parent Meeting

What are the important outcomes of a healthy youth ministry program, a healthy upbringing in a Christian Family, and a healthy partnership between church and home? Come to a parent meeting on Wednesday, November 30 – 7:15-8pm in the Fireside Room for a discussion about the very near future.
