Summer Children’s Programming

This summer our children and youth will connect with God and their families through food, hear stories about meeting Jesus, and engage in service projects that will meet the needs of those in our community. Activities are geared towards age 2 through 5th grade, but everyone is welcome to join in.

Outdoor Programming:

2nd and 4th Saturdays starting June 26
We will gather at 12 noon for a BYOL (bring your own lunch) time of fellowship and fun. Then from 1-2pm be focusing on meeting Jesus ourselves and with others. We will rotate between hearing and sharing stories about meeting Jesus and completing service projects that will help us meet Jesus and the needs of our neighbors.

June 26th – Service Saturday (Birthday kits)
July 10th – Story Saturday (Meeting Jesus on the Mountains)
July 24th – Service Saturday (Hygiene kits for First Nations Kitchen)
Aug14th – Story Saturday (Meeting Jesus by the Seaside)
Aug 28th – Summer wrap up and School supplies drive for Hallie Q Brown

There is a registration form for our outdoor gatherings. This form is for contact tracing and only needs to be filled out once for the whole summer. Please contact Katie Madsen for the registration form.

Good News Garden:

This garden project comes from the Agrarian Ministries of the Episcopal Church. We will be planting and tending our very own garden beds in the St. John’s parking lot. Everything we grow will either be donated to a community partner for hunger relief, or will be used by us here at St. John’s. For more information, check out this story.

We are asking families to sign up for watering duty (roughly once a week) so we all have a part in tending our Good News Garden. Katie will be available for each “first time” watering to show your family where the tools are. Sign up here.

Baking with the Bible at Home:

1st and 3rd Saturdays starting June 5
If gathering in person isn’t your style, don’t worry! We will also be doing a Baking with the Bible curriculum. On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month a video will go out to share a recipe and a story from the Bible, leaving you with some questions to answer together as a family as you bake that week’s yummy treat. Contact Katie Madsen to be added to this email list.

We hope that you will join us for a summer of fun and fellowship!
