St. John’s is a charter member of Faith Builders, a coalition of five area congregations also including Assumption Catholic Church, the Cathedral of St. Paul, House of Hope Presbyterian, and Unity Unitarian. We support Faith Builders and Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity with volunteers and over $2,000 in financial gifts to improve affordable housing in the Twin Cities.
This year, the 2016 Workcamp will be the weeks of June 13-24 (Monday through Friday each week). Construction takes place from 8:20am to 4:00pm each day. We’ll be working on a new Habitat home project at 552 Charles Avenue, St Paul, only 5 minutes from St. John’s. We’ll be on site early, as this will be the 3rd and 4th weeks of the build, when progress is usually dramatic. This is the 14th Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity summer project Faith Builders and St. John’s volunteers have participated in.
All skill levels are welcome. You’ll be provided with tools and friendly instructions, if you need them. You’ll work with like-minded folk, people of faith from other local congregations, and you’ll be addressing the need for affordable housing in a concrete way. Each day there will be a work crew of 15-18 volunteers (16 years and older), and 2 volunteers preparing and serving snacks and lunch.
