Meet the New Vestry Members

Here are the profiles of the newest members of the St. John’s vestry, elected at our annual meeting on January 24.
Vestry - Jay ClarkJay Clark and his family (who have all wandered to other religious avenues at this time) have been attending St. Johns for 18 years.  This would be Jay’s second stint on the vestry, as he served previously as chair of the Fellowship committee.  Jay currently is on the Formation commission and teaches in the Godly Play class rooms.  Jay splits his time between the 8 and 10am services on Sundays, and has recently started attending the Tuesday evening men’s group, where he greatly enjoys the discussions.  He looks forward to returning to the vestry.
Vestry - Marilyn ConklinMarilyn Conklin (Junior Warden) and her family joined St. John’s in 2009.  She moved to the Twin Cities from her native South Dakota to attend the U of M in the 1980s and liked Minnesota so much, she stayed.  A lawyer, she works as a career law clerk to a federal judge and previously was in private practice at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi.  Marilyn is a member of the Adult Choir at St. John’s and the Music Commission. She chaired the search for our Music Director in the summer of 2013 and previously served on the vestry.  Marilyn and her family have enjoyed participating in the St. John’s Cabaret, Godly Play, Youth Group, Children’s Choir, the Christmas Pageant, parking ministry, Project Home, and many wonderful events at St. John’s.
Vestry - Mary Ellen ElliotMary Ellen Elliot joined the Episcopal Church in 1989 and has been involved at St. Paul’s on the Hill and St. John’s in a number of ways. She served on the vestry and led the Building and Grounds committee at SPOTH and have been in choir there and at St. John’s. Mary Ellen and her husband Neil joined St. John’s three and a half years ago and continue to enjoy their house group, which formed shortly after that. She’s had a career in public education for twenty-five years. She and Neil live in Falcon Heights in a house they continue to renovate (with no end in sight).
Vestry - Tom EvansTom Evans started attending St. John’s as his second church when he was in town for business, from Duluth. He now lives in Mendota Heights and St. John’s is his parish. He’s married with three grown children, but he attends on his own. Tom says he enjoys coming to St. John’s and he looks forward to the connectedness he feels at the church. He says, “I try to participate by giving time and volunteering in areas that I think are important and are needed.” Tom organizes ushers to serve at special music events as well as funerals for community members. “The purpose of that is to welcome them.”
Vestry - Peter RosendalePeter Rosendale has been a member of St. John’s since the late 80s. He and Jennifer Frost Rosendale, a 3rd-generation member of the church, were married in 1989. They have 2 children, Skyler (22) and Samantha (15) who have participated in the Youth Group and its projects and mission trips; Samantha sang in the choir as well. Peter is a regular at Men’s Gathering once a month on Tuesday evenings. He believes “this is a such a wonderful community” and he looks forward to the opportunity to serve as a vestry member and support its valuable missions.
Vestry - Diane Wallace ReidDiane Wallace-Reid and her husband Terry have been at St. John’s for three years and “are here to stay. St. John’s is the embodiment of a spiritual and service-focused community.” Terry is a member of the formation committee and has officiated several times since his licensure as an Episcopal priest.
