Pentecost is an extraordinary moment in the life of the church year. It is the moment we celebrate as the birthday of the church, the community of God’s people, transcending every tongue and nation and tribe and culture. As such, this coming Pentecost Sunday, May 19, will be a special day and a unique Sunday. We will be baptizing new members into the body of Christ, and welcoming new members to the St. John’s community. We will also have special music in the form of pieces from the Missa Luba (an African Mass setting) and a guest preacher! It is sure to be an exciting and festive day and we hope you will join us and Christians everywhere in rejoicing in the Holy Spirit’s gift of connecting us one to another in this new community of God.
Baptisms on Pentecost Sunday
Sunday, May 19 at either the 8:00 or 10:00 am service. If you are considering Baptism, either for you or a child, one of the clergy at St. John’s would like to meet with you at least once for a conversation about baptism, Christian faith and commitment, and what it means to be incorporated into the Body of Christ for you and for this community. If you are interested, please contact the parish office: [email protected] or 651-228-1172 x10.
