“I was looking for a church to attend, because after almost four decades of being an ordained minister, it would have been hard to stop going to church. It is clear that at St. John’s, the clergy and guest preachers take preaching seriously.”
“This is the first time we’ve been involved in a church as a family, so we’re kind of learning what that means as we go. It’s been a meaningful and generative routine for us all to go to church every Sunday.”
Ken first came to St John’s because of our historic Skinner organ. “I was drawn to the Episcopal Church largely because of the legacy of the Anglican choral music.”
“Caleb says, ‘I’d gladly yap away about anything to do with volleyball, early Christianity, Appalachia, or education policy—a real nerd here.'”
“Sarah is passionate about racial justice, working with social justice organizations as a grant writer. Alex once designed and drove a solar electric car across the continent of Australia.”
“We’re really looking forward to Maven learning about God and being formed in such a loving community.”
“Beyond the music, which I absolutely love, one of the things I really like about St. John’s is the commitment to service and engagement with the community.”
“Chris’s degree is in art and they’re usually working on some creative artistic project. ‘I’ve also been a fantasy geek for a long time—currently very interested in Tolkein, if anyone wants to talk about that.’”
“Anne is a lifelong Episcopalian. She ran into Sue Mercier at Marvella where they live and discovered they were both Episcopalians. Sue had been attending St. John’s and invited Anne to join her.”
