At St. John’s, we are fortunate to have eight professional staff singers who serve as leaders within our choir. The combination of their musical skills, reliability, and spirit raises the quality of the music that we offer and contributes to creating a supportive and collaborative environment. We are featuring brief bios of our staff singers so our congregation can come to know even more about these wonderful leaders within our music ministry.
David McGowan, bass-baritone, is in his second year as a staff singer at St. John’s. Originally from rural Iowa, he earned his bachelor’s degree at St. Olaf College, where he sang in the St. Olaf Choir. He holds a masters degree in biostatistics from the University of Minnesota and works as a data scientist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. David also sings with Magnum Chorum, a local semi-professional choir, and previously served as choral fellow down the street at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church. David currently lives in Minneapolis and enjoys running in his free time.
