Sunday, September 13 marks an important day in the year: a time to look forward to seeing old friends, enjoying good food and good company together. There’s been a lot of planning, anticipation, and excitement…but the strongest emotion is hope. Hope that this year will be better than the last and that all the excitement, preparation, and anticipation will finally pay off.

…Of course, on September 13 there’s also Gathering Sunday to look forward to, with no less planning and no less hope. A hope that this can be the year that love can triumph in our homes, community and country.
A joyful hope is at the center of Christianity, St. John’s, and football. Hope keeps us going even when life or our team defy it. Hope keeps us working to be the body of Christ despite our long history of failure.
In the hope of Christ, I am looking forward to another year of joyful work towards change with all the members and staff of St. John’s
