Lenten Devotional: Luke 16:19–31

by Bette Ashcroft

I have willfully directed my gaze away from suffering. I have closed my ears to cries of distress. And every time I do, the chasm between God and me grows wider, deeper.

Loving Spirit, help me to hear and to see, to live in light and hope for unity, constancy, and peace. Help me to remember that my days on earth are short, and that the choices I make matter.

Dwarf Crested Iris – Iris cristata

These photographs, shared each day during Lent, capture the beauty of plants native to the Upper Midwest. As we spend time in Lenten reflection, these images of new life can remind us daily of our calling to be caretakers of God’s Creation.
