Lenten Devotional: Matthew 18:21–35

by Richard Gray

This passage from Matthew discusses the topics of forgiveness and compassion. When I think of this, I am reminded that God’s love is unconditional and so is God’s forgiveness. In the way that God forgives us, this Lent, let us think about what it means to receive that mercy and show it forth to others in our lives. May we always extend compassion as well as understand the meaning of grace as is shown in this passage.

These photographs, shared each day during Lent, capture the beauty of plants native to the Upper Midwest. As we spend time in Lenten reflection, these images of new life can remind us daily of our calling to be caretakers of God’s Creation.
