Meet Staff Singer Jennifer Sylvester

by Richard Gray

At St. John’s, we are fortunate to have eight professional staff singers who serve as leaders within our choir. The combination of their musical skills, reliability, and spirit raises the quality of the music that we offer and contributes to creating a supportive and collaborative environment. We are featuring brief bios of our staff singers so our congregation can come to know even more about these wonderful leaders within our music ministry.

Jennifer Sylvester is in her fourth season as a soprano staff singer at St. John the Evangelist. Some may recall her performance as a soloist on our Fauré Requiem concert last year. Jennifer currently sings with the Minnesota Chorale and has performed as a soloist for the Minnesota Chorale Messiah Sing-a-long and for other select projects. Jennifer has previously performed as a section leader and soloist for Exultate Chamber Choir and as a member of the Minnesota Opera Chorus. She has been a soloist with the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra as well as St Agnes Catholics Church of St Paul, University Lutheran Church of Hope and Grace University combined choirs in the Twin Cities, and King of Glory Lutheran Church of Dallas, Texas. She performs regularly with Summit Music Senior Outreach and has also performed recitals with the Thursday Musical Performing Artists recital series and Schubert Club Courtroom Concert Series.

In addition to singing, Jennifer is a speech language pathologist for the Anoka Hennepin School District’s Early Intervention Program. When not working or singing, she enjoys knitting, cycling, painting, horseback riding and spending time with her family, friends and furry creatures that inhabit her home.
