Help plant the container gardens that grow in the playground at our neighborhood Hallie Q Brown Community Center! Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 from 4-6pm (Rain Date is May 25 at 10am). Please bring your own garden gloves and trowels.
Why put gardens in a playground? It’s an incredible opportunity for learning! The students in Hallie Q’s Early Learning Center get so much enjoyment and excitement from watching the vegetables grow over the summer. They help water and tend the plants, and then get to participate in harvesting the vegetables at the end of the season. Having the gardens growing in the play area helps students to understand how plants grow and where our food comes from.
