St. John’s is host to the Artaria String Quartet, a professional chamber music ensemble which performs regularly at Sundin Recital Hall and elsewhere around the nation.
In 2002 the quartet founded the nationally renowned Artaria Chamber Music School (ACMS) for high-school string players at St. John’s. The school meets in the undercroft each Saturday afternoon during the academic year and the student quartets perform chamber music classics for Sunday services. The school presents free concerts at St. John’s each season as well as string quartet masterclasses, to which the public is invited free of charge.
