The Puritans pretty much took the fun out of virtue. Prudence, meekness, abstinence, industriousness and no tolerance for missteps. Jesus was a lot more fun. He even hung out with “sinners.”
Sin is the topic for the sermon this week. The lessons are uncompromising and at one point things were getting glum. Then I remembered my favorite episode of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”” – “Chuckles Bites the Dust.”
