Faith Forum Series: “Making Meaning Out Of Our Suffering”
Sundays at 9am beginning March 9 in the Fireside Room and on Zoom
A five-part series with practitioners of pastoral theology sharing spiritual resources to help us face suffering, metabolize pain, and grow in faithful resilience by caring for one another.
How do Christians cultivate creative, redemptive, and inspired approaches to suffering?
How do Christians cope with failed political leadership?
How do Christians help one another grieve overwhelming losses?
How do Christians heal from trauma and resist being defined entirely by our wounds?
How do Christians face our own and our loved ones’ mortality with faith, hope, and love?

All-Parish Lenten Read
Beginning March 9
This Lent we are focusing on how we make meaning of suffering and build faithful resilience by caring for one another. To support our spiritual learning, we will all study Viktor Frankl’s classic text, Man’s Search for Meaning. “Frankl saw three possible sources for meaning: in work (doing something significant), in love (caring for another person), and in courage during difficult times. Suffering in and of itself is meaningless; we give our suffering meaning by the way in which we respond to it.” — Harold S. Kushner

Copies will be available in the back of the church for a suggested $15 donation to cover the costs.

Reading Schedule:
March 9: Forward, Preface, pp. 3-32
March 16: pp. 32-65
March 23: pp. 65-93
March 30: pp. 97-134
April 6: Postscript, Afterword, pp. 135-165

Bible Discovery Series
Sundays at 11:30am beginning March 9
Whether you feel like you don’t know much about the Bible or have loved to study it for many years, this study has something for you! We will cover the whole Bible, Genesis to Revelation, through a mix of big-picture overview and interactively digging into short passages. These sessions will prepare you to more fruitfully read the Bible on your own or as part of a study group. Grab some refreshments from coffee hour and meet in the Fireside Room.
