We are celebrating Disability Pride Month as we work toward greater and more purposeful Disability Awareness and Inclusion here at St. John’s.
You will see new flags hanging on the fence outside during July — the Disability Pride flag. Click here to learn more about what it represents.
Through the end of July, we are offering a series of weekly articles written by parishioners who experience disabilities, both visible and invisible. In these reflections, they will share how their disabilities intersect with their faith and participation in the church community. Click here to read the series.
A future where St. John’s is a place of full belonging— for everyone—is a vision grounded in G.R.A.C.E.:
Give Space: We make room—liturgically, physically, spiritually—for disabled people to show up authentically.
Recognize Gifts: we affirm the God given talents, wisdom, and leadership disabled people bring to the Church.
Access for All: we commit to removing barriers— architectural, technological, and attitudinal—so that all
can worship with dignity.Create Community: We foster interdependence over independence—building communities where everyone
belongs, serves, and is served.Embody Love: We live out the Gospel by embracing disability as a sacred part of the human experience—not something to fix, but something to honor.
Because disability inclusion isn’t just a value. It’s Grace in action. It’s the Episcopal Church.
