We are living in a time when faith is often talked about, but not always lived in ways that reflect the heart of Jesus. Too often, Christianity is used to divide, exclude, or harm. But the way of Jesus is different. It is rooted in love. In justice. In mercy. In community. This journey is about reclaiming that way—together. There are 5 sessions:
The Why – This session explores the public ministry of Jesus Christ, Biblical prophets, and historical leaders, and the importance of discipleship to Christian ministry and witness today and over recent history in America. September 27, 2026, at 11:30 in the Parish Hall.
The How – We will dig into the Christian practice of discipleship and explore ways to concretely Love God and love our neighbor as ourselves, including practices of getting to know our neighbors, what they care about and what would help them. October 4, 2026, at 11:30 in the Parish Hall.
The What – In this session participants will plan a real action that they will take together, grounded in our Christian faith, that is powerful, has stakes and meaning for the world around us. October 11, 2026, at 11:30 in the Parish Hall.
Action – We will implement the actual action developed in the last session. Date, time, and location will be determined at the previous session. The types of action could include but are not limited to a storytelling event, defending or exercising democracy event, caring for sick or feeding the hungry event.
Debrief and Celebration – After the action we will debrief what was learned, what members of the church are now able to do that they weren’t before, and any new ideas for public witness at St. John’s.

Read more about Love Out Loud in these articles from the E-vangelist digital magazine:

“That’s the whole message we’re here for”: Love Out Loud
“In our scriptures, we are called to welcome a stranger; it literally is about welcoming the foreigner,” said Minister JaNae Bates Imari.

“I had no hesitation this was the right thing”: Love Out Loud
They believe everyone can be called to act in some way. Lewis posed the question directly.
“What are you called to do?” she said.

Public Discipleship: Love Out Loud
“We remember 1 Corinthians 12: ‘That we are all one body, and that when one part of the body suffers we all suffer.'”

Public Discipleship: Love Out Loud
As we prepare our hearts and minds for the next election and our Christian action options, we felt it important to remind ourselves of what happened during Operation Metro Surge and how faithful Christians responded.

Love in Action
What motivates me to support Love Out Loud is my hope that we can become a community and a country that respects the dignity of all human beings.

There are Angels Amongst Us
“Progressive Christians were there even before the beginning of this country. You never know what your words can lead to.”

Why It’s Vital That We Love Out Loud
This vision of God is not just disappointed in humanity; he’s pledged his allegiance to the United States and authorized his people to enforce his legalistic will on the rest of the country and the rest of the world. This is not the God of Scripture, but it is the God that most of the country sees. And this must change.

Why I Am Supporting the Love Out Loud Project
In a world where division often feels louder than unity, Love Out Loud offers a counter narrative—one rooted in empathy, courage, and the willingness to show up for one another.

Gardeners of Hope: Sowing Seeds of Love
This is more than resistance: this is an opportunity to create positive change in a meaningful way that is centered on our faith and is focused on improving the lives of others.

A Whole Lot of Fire!
That fire is now fueling my determination to find ways to push back against the growing White Christian Nationalism that is poisoning our country, perverting my faith, threatening my family, and destroying our democracy.
