“What is the Church doing at Eucharist?” Sunday mornings beginning June 14, at 9am in the Fireside Room and on Zoom

This summer forum series for everyone who is curious about what is happening in church when we celebrate Holy Communion. Especially if you’re new to the Episcopal Church, many parts of the tradition can seem unfamiliar and even opaque. Why do we do it every Sunday? What are the parts of the Eucharistic liturgy and what do they mean? How have the theology and language (such as gendered terms for God) changed from the first Book of Common Prayer through today?

Using Alexander Schmemann’s book For the Life of the World as a starting point, this series will not only answer all your questions, but will look at the theology of the church as the continuation of Christ’s Incarnation in the world for the salvation of the world, and how that relates to the way we celebrate the Eucharist. Led by the Rev. Dr. Dan Handschy.
